 Aquatic Associations

Picture
Being wholly and completely a landlubber the sea holds great mystery for me, the vastness alone lends itself to myth and legend. I relate quite well to the maps of antiquity that note 'here be dragons' in those uncharted waters.

Imagination can fill in the rest as I find myself much more comfortable beside a  bubbling creek with feet planted on terra firma.

The Long Way Home

Picture
Sea dragons/serpents titled 'The Long Way Home', acrylic on canvas 30"x40". I was working on this piece when hurricane Ike ripped through Galveston Island. The painting started out light hearted and became more somber toward completion. The original is sold-giclee print available.

Compass Rose

Picture
This mixed media piece is a reference to those maps of old.  Bookmatching patterns is a favorite pastime. The fish image is done with pen and ink on vellum tinted with watercolor and collaged to the larger cotton rag paper which has been poured with inks and acrylic. Finishing details in the compass rose with a bit of conte crayon and ink for the fine lines. The piece measures 15"x 22". Available
