Assemblage, Bricolage and Sculpture

Picture
Repurposing found objects refreshes the mind and gives me a new perspective when returning to the flat plane. It's hard to know some days if I prefer painting or sculpting.

Though of late a migration of dimensional sorts has been creeping onto my canvas and hardboard too.....another exciting art journey.

The Orator

Picture
I named this guy 'The Orator'. It's sculpted from paper clay with Powertex added to strengthen and harden. It has all sorts of bits from clock parts to the innards of computers. I like to think he's the hippie philosopher type since he wears flip flops on his story telling adventures. This piece stands about 16" tall.

Head, Hands and Heart

Picture
Front view of assemblage. Stands about 14" inchs tall.
Picture
Metropolis the 1927 silent movie was the inspiration for this piece, things found their way into the project with alarming precision.
Picture
Side view with a slice of circuit board included.
Picture
Collaged on back, "the mediator between the head and hands must be the heart" which is the underlying theme for Metropolis.

Hanging the Moon
